Many thanks goes out to N88TR for sending this my way! As he is one of the lucky ones that gets the PC Gamer magazine, I know, I know...you're probably saying so what, well, what he sent in, for your reading pleasure, is from the October 2007 issue; Does this make a difference? ...It should! This is the issue where they review the much anticipated Far Cry 2!!

Although, because of copywrite laws, and all of that annoying legal stuff, I really can't upload everything that was sent in, at the size it was sent, but, there is nothing saying that I can't review the review, and show you some small images...

This article is well written and definately gets the drool dripping! We all know that Far Cry was all about Jack Carver being hired by Valerie Constantine, and after dropping her off on the island, his boat was destroyed...this set off a chain of events that kept many a gamer glued to their monitors...as well as developing their own content!

As we all know by now, Far Cry 2 follows a way different story...

"Far Cry 2 is a journey into the depths of Africa and into the mind of a madman," reveals Clint Hocking, the creative director on this particular project, which is being shepherded by Ubisoft Montreal. It's taking over for original Far Cry puppet-master Crytek, which you may well know is busy creating its own next-gen follow-up, Crysis.

The most important charecter in the game , however, may just be the continent of Africa. As atmospheric and exotic as the original Far Cry's island setting. Africa offers a far more diverse ecology, with enviroments ranging from grassy savannahs to lush jungles to arid jungles. [...] Though the setting is Africa, the game doesn't take place in a particular spot. Think of Far Cry 2 as an African-themed Las Vegas resort-all the variety of the world's second largest continent condensed into two huge 12-square mile areas (the game world's size).

Even atr this early stage, however, Far Cry 2's graphics look like they'll be every bit as impressive in 2008 as Far Cry's were in 2004. While at Ubisoft's San Francisco's office, I had a first hand peek at the visuals in an early alpha build, and even the screenshots you see here don't do them justice. You have to see the game in motion. Blades of grass blow in the wind (and, yes, the game has real wind patterns that can be cranked from light breezes to violent dust storms), almost every object in the game world can be decimated by exploasives or weapons fire, and even the induvidual leaves on a tree can be shot off.

Ubisoft estimates it will take around 20-25 hours to play through Far Cry2's single-player campaign, and possibly more if you want to play through every possible mission and buy every possible weapon (of which there will be roughly 33, including M16s, AK47s, RPGs and other assorted rifles and handguns). The main story will be composed of around 30 missions, with roughly 60 side missions. And the game won't be broken into seperate levels; the world will appear as one continuous enviroment, as far as you, the player, are concerned.

While Ubisoft isn't spilling many secrets about far Cry 2's planned multiplayer mode, the team is adamant that it won't simply be 16 players running around shooting at one another. "We want our multiplayer to make you feellike you are a mercenary fighting in a bush war in Africa," says Hocking. "We're creating a real experience as opposed to just saying, "Look, we have three modes or six modes or whatever."

There is more, but this is what I feel are the highlights, plus some information on the game that may not have been previously released. The article in it's entirety is excellent, and I suggest that you pick it up if given the opportunity!

The screenshots are not clickable, and I cannot offer full size images, but I would imaging they are out there... if you look.

Thanks again N88TR! Until next time when something concerning this aresome game comes across my screen, Happy gaming!

Hehe. I received the issue at like 3:00pm and uploaded it by 3:15 pm. Seriously though, here's my filecloud.com link over on the Crymod.com thread I created, where you can download the scanned images out of the magazine, they're at super-high res by the way. You really need to look at these page scans, they kick much***** [I don't think the other word will show up...] Thanks a bunch Rebel. Cya.
