Hello everyone,

Today when I checked out the Forums I stumbled over the first real user-written file-review that I have ever seen in the five years that I am a member of this network. I liked it so much that I thought it would be worth to be posted up.
The reviewed file is the SP Missile Attack Preview 1.16 which can of course be found on this site. Check the review here:

The terrain is way too sparse and low landish. 7/10. Easy on the praise. Cut scenes, Triggers, and V.O.s are very nice but there is too much running around to the next objective. I had high hopes during the beginning but after the hangglider it was all downhill [hehe]. I wasn't ordered to go to the beach with all the troops but I wandered there anyways. [I got 6 troops with one grenade] This map is like 10 k square wiith maybe 50 enemies. It should be like 200 enemies minimun. A very good map but still needs alot of work. Trees and vegetation feel mixed and haphazardly placed. I know the troubles with vegetation, but you need to make a plan and stick to it. I liked the main compound but I felt there weren't many other 'industrial' areas. Dudes are just walking the beat for 4 miles? No rest areas or guardposts? I feel that the map would have to be completely re-done for it to be 9/10 or 10/10. It has obviously been worked on alot, lots of tweaking, but it's not superb. Yet.

Good:
1. Very good scripting of events.
2. Nicely placed save points.
3. Good flow to the map.
4. You don't get lost.
5. You always know what you should be doing.
6. Easy beginning of the level
7. Setup of enemy incampments feel plausible, unlike a underground cave inside a volcano, I'm looking at you Devil's Island.

Bad:
1. Too much terrain and not nearly enough action.
2. Some things like the falling rocks seem to just exist, saying 'Look what I did.' and not serve any real purpose. Which personally unneccessarily distracts me from the game.
3. Enemies are kinda hard to find.
4. After placing the C4 on the compound, the game feels really rushed and badly thoughtout, if at all.
5. Vegetation feels akwardly placed. If you want a 10/10, nearly each and every piece of vegetaion needs to be placed properly and look plausible.
6. I don't ever feel overwhelmed or pressured in any way. I always feel like 'bring it on.' Personally, I want to feel once in a while like I am an ant on a map, and I could be stepped on at any time. Nothing seemed too much for me to handle, which I think hurts it the most.

I'd recommend this map but with reservation. 7/10.

To add a little to Pille's comment, let's keep the reviews clean, and insult free; A bad review is perfectly fine, but be sure you're reviewing the file and not the author.
'Constructive critism' is the word of the day.
